The Man From U.N.C.L.E. - The Complete Series (Repackage/DVD)

]]>

Review :
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (Complete Series): 41 DVDs; 105 episodes; 5 DVDs of bonus Special Features.
OVERVIEW:

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is an American television series broadcast on NBC from September 22, 1964, to January 15, 1968. It follows secret agents, played by Robert Vaughn and David McCallum, who work for a secret international counter espionage and law and enforcement agency called U.N.C.L.E. (United Network Command for Law and Enforcement). The series consisted of 105 episodes originally screened between 1964 and 1968, with the first season in black-and-white, with the rest in colour. Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn) was to have been the focus, but a scene featuring a Russian agent named Illya Kuryakin (David McCallum) drew enthusiasm from the fans and the agents were paired. Leo G. Carroll played Alexander Waverly, the British head of the organization (Number One of Section One).

In Season 1, it was against the always very popular “The Red Skelton Hour” from CBS, and the rating was quite poor, with the show almost cancelled. When the show was...
"Open Channel D..."
I purchased the briefcase the first year it came out. A from me-me Christmas gift! It's terrific!! While it looks like all of the bonus features are listed in the box set description, I know one that is not: David McCallum's home movies. They'er great! He took his own camera and shot behind the scenes footage of the cast, crew sets and on location. if memory serves, David does the narration. But for those of you who don't want to-or can't spend the $$ on the complete set, can watch MFU on tv. Those of course that get the station ME-TV, can watch it. It's been airing since August/September of last year. As part of their "The Spies Who Love Me" block of shows which also include Mission Impossible and Get Smart.
These air between 10:00p.m.-1:00a.m. on Sunday night. {beginning with MFU at 10:00.)

BUYER BEWARE - but it is a great series!
To be clear, the five stars are for the series itself - while it may seem retro now, it was very influential to those of us who watched it as teens in the mid 60s.

BUT - you can purchase the identical 41 discs new on Amazon for about the half the price of this package. All that is new here IS the packaging - it is a slim format. If that is important enough for you to spend an additional $80, then buy it. But search Man From UNCLE in Amazon and you will see the "brief case" packaging available as new for HALF the price of this item. Same discs - they have not been remastered.

Whichever packaging you choose, the content is what is important, and this is a terrific series!

Billy Jack A Classic Blast From The Past
Some reviewers want to rate these movies by today's standards and that is a little unfair to this set of B-movies. The movie "Billy Jack" was one of the most popular movies of it's time. It was released and re-released dozens of times in theaters and drive-ins back in the day. A movie that led to films like "Walking Tall", "Macon County Line" and more. These movies are very dated, but fun to watch. "Billy Jack Goes To Washington" was a victim of it's own ideals when the right to film in areas of Washington, D.C. was yanked upon hearing of it's plot line. If the Billy Jack films were released today, with today's technology and multiple media outlets, there probably would have been more films and might have led to a TV series, as well. These films aren't just about going up against 'the man', they are also about the injustice and mistreatment of the American Indian back in the day. The Complete Rawhide Packaged At A Fair Price
An excellent series in 3 plastic clam shell mega-Amaray packs, which are together in a cardboard housing that contains all 217 episodes from 8 seasons (January 9, 1959-December 7, 1965). Each case holds 2 or 3 seasons, with a disc on either side of a plastic page. These pages protect each disc, while making them accessible, by flipping, like pages in a book. Episode titles are listed on the discs, and can also be cross referenced with titles and air dates listed by season on the inside covers of each Amaray pack. Lots of content packed into a small space. One problem is that these pages are not anchored to the inside of the cases. If you opened the clam shell without knowing this, the pages holding 20 DVD's, which are hinged together at the base, could slide out and fall to the floor. I've deducted one star off for this, and one for the poor quality of season 4, which was unremastered, both for it's original release and for this set. Unremastered Season 4
When CBS/Paramount was releasing Rawhide, somehow they ended up releasing Season 4 without having digitally remastering it. The Season 4 prints were terrible; muddy, washed out, below even VHS quality.

It would be nice if CBS/Paramount would correct that and remaster Season 4 for this release. Indications are they are not going to be doing that. Write to them or post on here; maybe it will grab their attention enough so that they will do something.

Atlantis, built thousands of years ago by the highly evolved ancients, is home base for an elite expedition team from earth. these courageous military commanders and scientists leap through the city’s stargate to explore the wondrous Pegasus galaxy and battle the treacherous wraith, who seek control of Atlantis – at any cost.

Stargate Atlantis: Season One

It's not a franchise on the order of Law & Order, CSI, or Star Trek--not yet, anyway--but with Stargate Atlantis, a more than worthy successor to SG-1, Stargate is becoming a nice little cottage industry in itself. The premise, in a nutshell: The Ancients, the greatest race the universe has ever known (or something like that), abandoned Earth millions of years ago, taking Atlantis with them; they then sunk the entire city in order to escape the clutches of the dreaded Wraith, an implacable bunch of villains who nourish themselves by sucking the life from humans. Now, as the two-hour "Rising" pilot details, a new team has gained access to the legendary city. Once they arrive, Atlantis loses the power to sustain its protective shield and rises to the surface, and thus begin the team's adventures (i.e., using the stargate to travel to other planets in the Pegasus galaxy, encountering aliens both hostile and friendly, and trying to defeat the Wraith, or at least stay out of their way).

Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson), SG-1's driving force, is missed, but Atlantis has a strong replacement in Major John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), easily the most charismatic member of the new team. Like O'Neill, Sheppard is a wiseacre and a loose cannon, as well as a superb pilot with an innate understanding of the Ancients' arcane technology. His humor, humanity and conscience provide a welcome contrast to the other characters, especially brilliant-but-neurotic Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett) and ultra-serious project leader Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson), who has little to do but give orders and stand up for her people. The Wraith, who resemble a vampire mutation of the albino blues guitarist Johnny Winter, are the focus of most of these 19 episodes (including the pilot). These bad boys will stop at nothing--nothing, I tell you!--in their quest to snack their way through every galaxy in the universe, with Earth their ultimate feeding ground. And while the final four episodes, dealing with the Wraith's massive attack on Atlantis, end with an unsatisfying cliffhanger (basically, nothing is resolved), earlier shows effectively keep their ominous presence in the forefront. The episodes in which the Wraith play little or no active role are often compelling as well, including "Thirty Eight Minutes" (one of our heroes' "puddle jumper" spacecraft gets stuck in the stargate), "Childhood's End" (we meet a race whose members are convinced that only ritual suicide is keeping the Wraith at bay), and "The Eye" (a planet-size hurricane/tsunami bears down on Atlantis). As is the case with SG-1, the visual effects work, especially by TV standards, is excellent; in fact, one might wish for bit more cool sci-fi action and less talk in some of the episodes. Special effects include commentary (by directors, writers, and/or actors) for every episode, as well as the occasional behind-the-scenes featurette. --Sam Graham

Stargate Atlantis: Season Two

If Stargate Atlantis isn't the coolest sci-fi series on television, this five-disc, 20-episode box set from the second season (2005-06) offers ample evidence that it's right up there. The writing is good; the stories are intriguing, and the science part of the equation is credible enough to justify our suspension of disbelief. The characters are for the most part well-defined, and the acting, while perhaps not Emmy-caliber, is just fine. The action is exciting, the effects work impressive, the costumes and sets first-rate. But what Atlantis really has going for it is the presence of some of the baddest bad guys in the cosmos: the Wraith.

With their flowing white locks, cat-like eyes, pale, almost translucent skin, and teeth so bad they'd make the British blush, the Wraith rock. They also have a constant need to feed--on humans, of course--and are a serious threat not only to Atlantis but to the entire known universe, including good ol' Earth. And although there are occasional diversions, the producers and writers have wisely kept the focus on these implacable antagonists; in fact, the newest member of the team, one Ronon Dex (played by the dreadlocked and hunky Jason Momoa), is a "runner" who escaped the Wraith's clutches, was a fugitive for years before being found by our heroes, and specializes in dispatching the villains with cold precision. In the course of the season, via single episodes and several multi-parters, the Stargate team, commanded by Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson in the show's least interesting role) and led by insouciant Major John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), with genius-neurotic Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett) handling the scientific intricacies and yet another doc, Carson Beckett (Paul McGillion, affecting a Scottish brogue), overseeing medical matters, deals with the enemy on many fronts. Lt. Ford (Rainbow Sun Francks) defects after assuming Wraith-like characteristics. The team experiments with a "retrovirus" designed to turn Wraiths into humans (the results are decidedly mixed). They encounter a human who raised a Wraith female from childhood and insists she's just like us (she's not). They're captured and imprisoned on a Wraith "hive" ship. And in the final episode, the humans and the Wraiths even form an alliance of supposedly mutual convenience (the episode is a cliffhanger that awaits resolution until Season Three, but anyone who thought this "partnership" was a good idea for our side clearly hasn't been paying attention). As was the case with the Season One set, bonus materials are generous, including audio commentary (by actors, directors, and others) on every episode, various featurettes, photos, and more. Now if only there were a few Wraith interviews... --Sam Graham

Stargate Atlantis: Season Three

With Stargate SG-1 now permanently off the data screen (except for a TV movie or two) after ten productive seasons, it appears that the fate of the universe is now the responsibility of the Stargate Atlantis crew. Based on the latter's third season, whose 20 episodes (plus a wealth of bonus features) are made available here on five discs, we're in good hands.
Three years into it, Atlantis has retained numerous familiar elements while continuing to evolve steadily. The core cast is intact, with the cocky wiseacre-hero Lt. Col. John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) and the egotistical, neurotic genius Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett) still the most entertaining of the bunch; as the series explores the characters' personal lives and backstories, we even meet (in "McKay and Mrs. Miller") the latter's sister, who's every bit the wiz that he is. On the other hand, the roles of team leader Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson) and members Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) and Ronon Dex (Jason Momoa) are neither especially well-written nor well-played. The return of Richard Dean Anderson (and his sense of humor) as General Jack O'Neill, the SG-1 mainstay during most of its run, for a few cameos is most welcome, as is the presence of the Wraith, the series' principal villains (SG-1 fans will also recognize the "sentient machines" known as the Replicators from that series). With their flowing white locks, cat-like eyes, pale, almost translucent skin, ultra-fine black leather dusters, and, in one case, shades that would make a Hollywood hipster envious, the Wraith remain the coolest bad guys on the sci-fi scene. We already knew that they feed on humans, but this season brings some startling new revelations, particularly in "Common Ground," an excellent episode that finds Sheppard and a Wraith (Christopher Heyerdahl) forming an unlikely alliance against a mutual enemy; we also witness the return of the Wraith known as Michael (Connor Trinneer), who was the subject of the Atlantis team's ongoing "retro-virus" experiment (designed to make Wraiths human) in Season Two and plays a significant recurring role in Season Three. Other developments are apparent as well, but most dramatic of all is the death of one of the team's key members.

Stargate Atlantis isn't the most original TV show ever created; in fact, elements of The Running Man, Alien, The Abyss, Enemy Mine, and other sci-fi works are sometimes so obvious that the characters themselves mention them in dialogue. But as always, the action sequences, special effects, models, and other technical elements are first-rate, as are the bonus features, which include episode commentaries, featurettes, and photo galleries. --Sam Graham

Stargate Atlantis: Season Four

Replicators and Wraith. ZPMs and hyperdrives. Good guys, bad guys, and guys who could go either way. They’re all on hand for the fourth season (originally aired in 2007-08) of Stargate Atlantis, still one of television’s finest sci-fi shows. There are a number of new developments in the course of this 20-episode run. The first is the departure of leader Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson), who’s gone from the team by the third episode, replaced by Col. Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping, who will be familiar to Stargate SG-1 fans after her long stint on that now-defunct series); seems Weir’s body contains “nanites,” the elements that make up the “sentient machines” known as the Replicators, which leads to her making a supreme sacrifice on behalf of her fellow humans. (Speaking of the Replicators, these bad boys are so formidable a threat to the entire known universe that even the Wraith--the cat-eyed, white-haired, weird-skinned, vampire-like Johnny Winter lookalikes who feed on humans--fear them, resulting in a rather fraught, on-again-off-again alliance with the Stargaters. Unfortunately, the Replicator-Wraith showdown, which could have made Godzilla v. Megalon look like a game of tag, isn’t exploited to nearly the degree one might have wished for.) Meanwhile, the team’s personal lives are examined more closely this time, as Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) becomes pregnant, dreadlocked beefcake dude Ronon (Jason Momoa) considers rejoining his original tribe, irreverent hero Lt. Col. John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) returns to Earth for his father’s funeral (where he runs into his ex-wife and estranged brother), and genius scientist Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett, a good actor whose character’s incessant glass-half-empty, pessimistic whining is getting a bit old by now) once again meets up with his sister, who also made an appearance in Season Three. Overall, the fourth season contains several terrific stories (like “Adrift,” in which the entire city of Atlantis heads into space in search of a new home planet, “Tabula Rasa,” in which the crew is infected with amnesia, and “Trio,” described by its creators as the most logistically complex episode of the entire series), and a smattering that aren’t so hot. As always, Atlantis has terrific special effects, sets, and action (this show ain’t cheap to produce, and it shows), plenty of wit (Sheppard, upon being served a strange-looking meal by his captors: “Is that a form of torture?”), and a very generous selection of bonus features, which include commentaries for every episode, featurettes, and photo galleries. --Sam Graham

Stargate Atlantis: Season Five

As the curtain is drawn on the first of the 20 episodes that comprise this fifth (and apparently last) season of Stargate Atlantis, we’re assured that “the threat level is down” across the universe. The “sentient machines” known as the Replicators have been defeated; The Wraith, the white-haired, translucent-skinned, cat-eyed vampire dudes who have been our heroes’ principal nemeses all along, are in disarray; And while the character known as Michael, who was the subject of the team's ongoing ""retro-virus"" experiment (designed to make Wraiths human) in Season Two and played a significant recurring role in Season Three, is still around, he too no longer inspires much dread. So, “the threat level is down,” right? Yeah, right. You don’t need to be an astrophysicist to know that rosy analysis is mere wishful thinking. Indeed, Michael’s human-Wraith “hybrids” are a serious menace almost immediately; and by the end of the season, not only have the Wraith pulled themselves together, they have constructed the mother of all “hive ships,” located Planet Earth, and begun attacking it. In between, regular Atlantis fans will witness a few significant developments: among other things, Samantha Carter (Stargate SG-1 veteran Amanda Tapping), who took over command of Atlantis in Season Four, is soon replaced by the by-the-book civilian Richard Woolsey (Robert Picardo); team member Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) has a baby; and Rodney McKay (David Hewlett), the kvetching genius scientist, and medical doc Jennifer Keller (Jewel Staite) kindle a romantic relationship. Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), another SG-1 veteran, appears in two mid-season episodes.

Story-wise, Season Five offers considerable variety; “The Daedalus Variations” is heady sci-fi filled with technical mumbo-jumbo about parallel universes, while “Whispers” is a zombie jamboree straight out of Night of the Living Dead, and Vegas, an “alternate reality episode” in which Lt. Col. John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan, in what is still the show’s most appealing role) plays a beleaguered homicide detective, takes place almost entirely in that city. As usual, the best stories are the ones involving the Wraith, including “The Queen,” in which Teyla temporarily transforms into one of those villainous creatures. Also as usual, the visual effects are first-rate, and the bonus material is copious (including commentaries for every episode and all manner of featurettes) and impressive. If this is indeed the end of Stargate Atlantis as a series (a feature-length movie is already in production), it will certainly be missed--but at least they’re quitting while they’re ahead. --Sam Graham

Review :
Great set, plenty of extra features, and excellent audio/video quality
First of all, the packaging for the blu-ray set is simple. A small cardboard case with two thick plastic cases containing the first four seasons, and a thinner, four disc case for season five.

After viewing a few of the episodes, I can honestly say the video quality is superb. The colors are bright and vivid and SGA hasn't ever looked this good. I had bought the "Fan's Choice" blu-ray with three episodes, and it's safe to say the rest of the series has been transferred to high-def just as well.

The audio is to be expected, 5.1 DTS and I haven't noticed anything I could complain about.

There are too many special features to list, but there are more than pretty much any other boxset I've owned. Quite frankly it will take me months to listen to all the audio commentaries and featurettes, deleted scenes, and interviews. However, I believe they are all the same ones included in the DVD release so if you plan on upgrading to the blu-ray from the DVD set,...
Gate to Pegasus
One of the big arcs of the "Stargate SG-1" series was finding the Lost City of the Ancients, also known as Atlantis.

It also turned into fertile fodder for a spinoff series (come on, you KNEW they had to make one eventually). And though it had a slightly shaky start -- much like its parent series -- the following seasons saw "Stargate: Atlantis" blossom out into a solid sci-fi series with a legendary series, new alien parasites, and new nasty machines from long ago.

At the Antarctic base, Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) has finally figured out the location of Atlantis -- in the Pegasus galaxy. General Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) lets an exploratory unit to go to Atlantis -- even though they don't have the power to return back to the Milky Way, and will be stranded there.

So Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson) leads an international group of scientists and military personnel to another galaxy, and arrive in the sunken Ancient city of Atlantis...
Excellent TV series
Many people were concerned about the quality of the discs and how they played on the previous DVD set. In this blu-ray set, I have watched most of the episodes, (and fast forwarded at various speeds on a few episodes) and I wanted to point out that the audio and video are excellent.

While watching the episodes, I realized that the storyline arcs move forward surprisingly fast, including the episodes that deal with the Wraith, the Genii people, the Replicators, and the Ancients. Because the plots moved so fast, if you missed or forgot what happened on a few episodes, you may get confused. I believe this is what happened at the end of the third season and part of the reason why I started to lose interest in the TV show; it really started to get confusing. The stories and plots are so tightly written and edited that I had to watch a few episodes again to fully understand and appreciate where the plots were going. Having watched most of the episodes again, I have a...

Review :
Improved from the single season sets.... of classic TV series
I won't bother to explain the series as everybody knows the story of Magnum and his friends... the question is what if anything is different about this complete set from the individual seasons many of us own or bought.....

This is an excellent set which improves some of the seasons where the notorious "flipper" discs were originally pressed by Universal. These seasons all feature single sided Dual Layer discs for better operating without the "freezing" associated with double sided flippers. The entire set (all seasons and bonus features/episodes) takes up far less space than the original sets. NO updating on the image has taken place ,we get the same quality of image which is pretty good at best, but it was a terrific series and Magnum PI remains the most popular Private Eye/Detective in TV history.
I found this at Costco for 99.99 so that is where I purchased and would recommend looking for that as the standard of good pricing as of this writing...
This is 80s Awesomeness at its Best!
Magnum PI - The Complete Series is a DVD box set done right:

* Every disc is single-sided, as opposed to so many series that opt for double-sided.
* Every season is housed in a secure plastic clamshell package holding either six discs (Seasons 1-4), five discs (seasons 5-7), or three discs (season 8).
* Every disc was 100% free of any scuffs or scratches.
* The box that holds the eight seasons is sturdy and features great graphics of Tom Selleck and the rest of the cast

I am pretty strict when it comes to these reviews. If something isn't good, I'm not shy about saying so, but this Magnum PI box set is just perfect. Given how low the price tends to get on this from time to time (I got mine from Amazon for just $60), this one's a no-brainer. Grab it, and settle in for some wonderful 80s goodness, Magnum style!

This is really a great purchase
I am a long time Magnum fan, so this may be a bit one sided. I will say if you liked this series at all you will love the box set. They did a great job in reducing size of same and it is in a neat package. The series speaks for itself and if you are reading my review than you already know about the series itself. Lets put it this way, it is priced right and will not last forever. There are bonus features and so forth, but my wife and I really love watching Magnum and all of the cast in action. I would strongly recommend this set. Great job Universal.

Review :
Dark, gritty, and powerful
I recently finished all 7 seasons of The Shield. This series has to be in my top 5 TV series of all time.

The show is very character driven. Each one usually has a typical "cop show" subplot, but the broad arcs are about the characters. Make no mistake, this is a very dark show. I would find my moods affected by watching it often times. I like how "real" the characters are. Even the moral centers of the show do bad things and have human failings. In my view a large part of the series is a meditation on morality. Vic Mackey does some horrible things but is also in many ways a good and sometimes even heroic character. It embraces the shades of gray that real people are made up of.

If you have any attraction to action dramas then watch this show. After the first episode you will know if you like it or not. As a testament to how much I liked the series, after I finished it I went online and watched the videos F/X hosted of conversations with the cast and...
Cool format although removing the dics can be a challenge

Awesome show, packaging issues fixed
Before I review the Shiled itself, I want to let everyone interested in the show know that the packaging issues involving scratched discs has been addressed. The book like format is the same, but the packaging now contains slip covers for each disc of the show. This prevents the discs from getting scratched, and provides further and better cover to each disc. Be warned though, if not careful in pulling out the discs with the slip, scratching may still occur. Otherwise, the pacackaging is pretty cool, with pictures, and references to the entirety of the show. For those a fan of the show, its a pretty nice rememberance, for those new, it provides several clues with relatively minor spoilers.

As to the show, to call it one of the finest cop dramas is a bit limiting. It is just one of the finest shows. The acting is top notch, with you often losing the feeling your watching actors, and truly feeling like your watching a documentary. The writing is just as good. In...

The Clark Kent-Lex Luthor rivalry explodes into the fierce good- versus-evil battle fans have long expected in Season 6 of the spectacular series that reinterprets the characters and events of Superman mythology from its roots.

Adding to the rivalry: Lana Lane becomes Mrs. Luthor. Clark/Superman would be stunned to find out why she says yes. But that’s not all that’s stunning. Green Arrow forms a Super Hero league. Will Clark join? Phantom Zone escapees menace Earth. Can Clark stop them? LuthorCorp expands its dark experiments. Will an awesome kryptonite-powered army be the result?

Season 7-There are two Clark Kents. One is the young man whose life in a tiny Kansas town sets him on destinys path. The other is a Bizarro who shares Clarks DNA but not his values. Only one of them can survive. Superman mythology grows deeper and more powerful in an event-packed season that includes the arrival of Clarks cousin Kara/Supergirl. Keep a low profile and master your powers, Clark says. Kara has other ideas. Plus: Lana Lang might prefer Bizarro to the real deal. Lois Lane makes a career leap. Chloe Sullivan finds that balancing a meteor power with a personal life isnt easy. And Lex Luthors power-lust has a new fixation Kara. New characters and complications. New secrets and lore. New thrills and special effects.

Season 8-There's a new reporter at the Daily Planet: Clark Kent, who shares a workspace with Lois Lane. There's a new hero in Metropolis, too. No one knows who he is. But Jimmy Olsen was on the scene of one of the do-gooder's exploits, and he snapped a blurred photo of the hero in superspeed action – a hero everyone now calls the Red-Blue Blur. Red-jacketed, blue-shirted Clark Kent draws closer to his Superman destiny in the exciting Season 8 of Smallville. Another Kryptonian destiny also takes shape. Davis Bloome begins to realize he is Doomsday. His mission on Earth: kill Clark Kent. So many new events (will Jimmy and Chloe's marriage last?), so many new faces (Tess Mercer, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy among them!), so don’t miss a single thrill-packed moment!

Season 9-Great planet, earth is. So great that other survivors of Planet Krypton wouldn’t mind making it home and taking control. Hearts grow fonder (Clark & Lois) and dangers grow stronger (Clark vs. warriors of Zod) in this 21-Episode Season 9 Collection. Plus, unexpected characters from DC Comics lore add exciting new layers to the adventures of the man who will become Superman. Among them: the shape-shifting Wonder Twins, magical Zantanna, and Justice Society of America’s Dr. Fate, Hawkman and Stargirl. May justice prevail – and Earth survive!

Season 10-

From the ashes of tragedy, a popular yet awkward teen attempts to decipher the meaning of his life and his clouded past. Review of the ACTUAL box set
I'm a huge SV fan. Been one since about season two. And I wanted this awesome-looking collector's set so badly that I sold my seasons one through nine, some textbooks, etc. just to have money for it.

In the long run, I kind of regret doing that.

Here's the short version: If you already own seasons one through nine, do yourself a favor and just buy season ten. This big set, unfortunately, is not worth it.

Here's the long version: While the set looks beautiful, it's not practical. Each DVD is tightly (and I mean TIGHTLY) held in place by cardboard dividers. You literally have to pry out some of the DVDs from between two slats of cardboard. Obviously, this leaves some pretty heavy scratches. One of my DVDs looks like I set it on the floor, put my foot on top of it, and did the hokey pokey. The fronts of the DVDs look great, each season represented by a different Kryptonian symbol that die-hard fans will recognize. However, the DVDs are packed SO TIGHTLY...
Bad Design
I got this box set for chrismas and got all the way to 6th season and then had problems with the disc. I'm sorry who ever designed the package was an idiot. This is why I have reverted to downloading shows and movies. It is utterly rediculas to spend 200 dollars on a box set to find a disc so scratched up that it is unable to watch it. Beware before you buy this that chances are you are going to end up with disc that are scratched.

Warning must buy more with this!
Warning...you must buy other cases or something safe to put your DVD's in. It is a horrible designed cardboard sleeve with no protection that is sealed too tight. I've had to tear the cardboard to get DVD's out and it scratches your dvd too. Some have even gotten deep scratches on the first time taking the DVD out causing it to skip. So know you will have to tear the sleeves the DVD's are in and put them in something that won't destroy them.

Other than that its great!
